AAIS Web Seminars Describe Automation Support for By-Peril Rating

AAIS Press Release: Oct. 28, 2015

Lisle, Ill., Oct. 28, 2015—Property/casualty professionals are invited to participate in two upcoming web seminars describing a new initiative to provide automation support for by-peril rating in homeowners insurance. To register, go to www.aaisonline.com

The seminars are sponsored by the American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS), a national advisory organization that provides policy forms, rating information, and automation support for more than 700 P/C insurers.

The first seminar, scheduled for 1 p.m. Central time (2 p.m. Eastern) on Wednesday, Nov. 11, will describe the latest updates to the AAIS Homeowners By-Peril Rating Plan, a refined rating plan with loss costs and rating factors applied to relevant perils for greater precision in pricing.

The presenters on Nov. 11 will include:

  • John Kadous, CPCU, CPM, vice president of personal lines;
  • Jeffrey Holaway, CPCU, CPM, onboarding relationship manager; and
  • Rich Yocius, FCAS, MAAA, CPCU, vice president and chief actuary.

The second seminar, scheduled for 1 p.m. Central time (2 p.m. Eastern) on Thursday, Nov. 18, will describe how the AAIS Underwriting Platform, a cloud-based application for implementing and maintaining AAIS programs, has been extended to support the by-peril rating plan.

The presenters on Nov. 19 will include Kadous and Holaway, plus Truman Esmond, AAIS vice president of customer engagement.

Registration is free of charge to interested persons, who do not have to be from member companies of AAIS.

Introduced in 2010, the AAIS Homeowners By-Peril Rating Plan (HOBP) was the first advisory organization plan available to insurers in most states for rating homeowners policies on the basis of individual perils.

The Underwriting Platform (UP) was developed in 2013 to support AAIS inland marine and output programs, and is being extended over to support forms and manuals maintained by AAIS for more than 25 lines of personal, commercial, agricultural, and inland marine insurance.

For more information on the HOBP or the UP, contact Rick Maka, director of marketing and strategic alliances, by email or by calling 630-457-3217.
