California Issues Mandatory Moratorium on Policy Cancellations and Non-Renewals
On September 26, 2022, the California Department of Insurance (CDI) issued Bulletin 2022-14 regarding a mandatory moratorium on residential property insurance policy cancellations and non-renewals after the declaration of a state of emergency.
California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a state of emergency proclamation on September 19, 2022 covering: (1) Siskiyou County due to the Mountain Fire; (2) Modoc County due to the Barnes Fire; and (3) Madera County due to the Fork Fire.
