California Requests Information from Admitted Insurers Regarding Commercial Insurance/Commercial Insurance Survey (CMIS-2021)

 

On April 13th the California Department of Insurance (CDI) issued a survey for Information to all admitted insurers and the FAIR plan's commercial insurance programs for certain information due to concerns about the availability of commercial insurance coverage for various California business sectors. Specifically, the Commissioner is asking for information regarding insurance programs covering risks including but not limited to:

  • Agribusiness
  • Farmowners
  • Ranch owners
  • Timber harvesting or forestry
  • Prescribed burn
  • Cotton gins
  • Summer camps
  • Wineries

The Department requested the following information be submitted:

  • Total premium written by program,
  • New or recently revised wildfire underwriting restrictions,
  • Consideration of wildfire or location in rating and eligibility,
  • The number of new policies written from Jan. 1, 2017 to the present, and
  • Total exposure and policy count

This information must be provided to the CDI within 60 days, or no later than June 14, 2021. An Excel workbook is forthcoming. Any insurer with questions, please contact: Micah.Mumper@insurance.ca.gov
