Systems Administrator
Purpose
The Systems Administrator plays a critical role in maintaining the health and efficiency of AAIS’s computer systems including hardware, assets, software, and technology infrastructure. This role will support multiuser computing environments and ensure smooth operation of IT services. Responsibilities vary day-to-day and encompass everything from system maintenance, building and implementing solutions, installation and configuration, and providing technical assistance or training to end users.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for end-user technical support, including computer and system-related inquiries.
- Manage and respond to support tickets in Zendesk, acting as a liaison for other teams as needed.
- Configure and maintain laptop hardware and software for both Apple and Windows devices.
- Lead IT new hire onboarding and offboarding processes, including account setup and deactivation.
- Oversee imaging and asset management to ensure efficient deployment and tracking of company devices.
- Administer Apple MDM remote solutions for device management.
- Manage user permissions and access within Atlassian products and other enterprise applications.
- Maintain and administer Microsoft Active Directory.
- Ensure the efficient lifecycle management of trouble tickets, taking responsibility for resolutions.
- Provide technical support to end users both onsite and remotely.
- Develop and maintain user guides and technical documentation as required.
- Work independently and collaboratively within the IT team to address system needs.
- Maintain core IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, and hardware.
- Perform server administration tasks, analyze event logs, troubleshoot errors, and monitor system resources to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven experience in end-user support with a focus on improving user experience.
- Proficiency in using Zendesk or similar ticketing systems.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and configuring Cisco and AWS networks.
- Strong expertise in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows and macOS client systems.
- Experience deploying and managing Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions.
- Familiarity with Linux system administration and AWS environments (preferred).
- Experience supporting video conferencing systems.
- Knowledge of inventory control systems.
- Experience with Okta Single Sign-On (SSO) or other Identity Providers (IDPs).
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices, with the ability to enforce security policies effectively.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity, ethics, discretion, and dedication to the mission of the organization.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively across multiple channels and asynchronously in a remote-first working environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar field. Equivalent work experience in lieu of education also considered.
- Cisco CCNA or other network certifications (preferred).
- Kace MDM or other MDM certification (preferred).
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator.
- Advanced knowledge of computer hardware components, including chipsets, memory modules, and peripherals.
- Strong expertise in desktop and network operating systems, software applications, and remote connection tools.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues.
- Prior experience in deploying and maintaining Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions.
- Linux certifications, a plus.
- Must be able to work flexible or extended hours as needed to meet deadlines or respond to disaster recovery.
- Minimum travel is required for annual all-company gatherings or team design sessions (up to 5% of the time).
