As Executive Vice President, Chief Distributing Officer at The Hartford, Ross is responsible for underwriting decision-making, underwriting quality, business portfolio management, and development of our underwriting teams. He is also responsible for The Hartford’s industry-leading Risk Engineering organization, the Insurance Credit Risk Management team, Assumed and Ceded Reinsurance operations, and the Internet-of-Things (IoT) Innovation team.

Prior to this role, Ross served as the Head of The Hartford’s Specialty Commercial Businesses focused on underwriting, product, service, and sales of complex risk products to companies of all sizes. Ross concentrated on making strategic, data-driven decisions to profitably grow The Hartford’s Specialty Commercial portfolio and make the company a broader, deeper risk player.

Throughout his 30+ year career, Ross has served as leader of The Hartford’s National Accounts Casualty business, Construction Insurance business, and Bond business. He was a member of the Board of Directors of The Surety and Fidelity Association of America for 10 years, most recently as Chairman from 2016 to 2018. He served on the Advisory Board for the Surety Information Office and The Hartford’s Investment and Savings Plan Investment Committee.
