M. Ross Fisher

Ross was appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer of AAIS in November 2025. Prior to that, he served on the AAIS Board of Directors.

Ross recently retired from The Hartford, where he served as Executive Vice President and Property & Casualty Chief Underwriting Officer. In that role, he was responsible for underwriting decision-making and quality, business portfolio management, and the development of underwriting teams. He also oversaw The Hartford’s industry-leading Risk Engineering organization, Insurance Credit Risk Management team, Assumed and Ceded Reinsurance operations, and the Internet of Things (IoT) Innovation team.

Previously, Ross served as Head of The Hartford’s Specialty Commercial Businesses, leading underwriting, product development, service, and sales of complex risk products for companies of all sizes. He focused on making strategic, data-driven decisions to profitably grow The Hartford’s Specialty Commercial portfolio and strengthen the company’s position as a leading risk partner.

Over his 30-plus-year career, Ross also led The Hartford’s National Accounts Casualty, Construction Insurance, and Bond businesses. He served on the Board of Directors of The Surety and Fidelity Association of America for 10 years, including as Chairman from 2016 to 2018, and on the Advisory Board for the Surety Information Office. Ross also served on the Board of Lloyd’s Syndicate 1221 from 2019 to 2024 and was Chairman of The Hartford’s European Insurance unit from 2019 to 2021. In addition, he was a member of The Hartford’s Investment and Savings Plan Investment Committee.
